November 2025 Update

The Month of November
Environment: In the office, likely my last chance to write here
C1x Development
This has continued to be my main project for the past month, likely to continue for at least one more. My current focus in C1x is building out a Deep Stats mode, a feature I am adding to the app which will enable power users -- touring pros and anyone else interested in more in depth statistics -- to get a more in depth breakdown of their game. C1x is currently about 25% more powerful than other disc golf stat keeping platforms in terms of the breakdown a player can get from a round of disc golf (and looks better while doing it). The Deep Stats mode will take it to an entirely new level, adding dozens of features, stats, and graphics that aren't available on another platform. It's still a work in progress, but I am hopeful that C1x can be a tool for disc golfers serious about understanding their game.
In my last update, I noted that I was about 80% complete with the shot logging portion of this update. In the past month, I finished that portion, realized that it was so complicated that I (as the developer) didn't even want to use it, and I ultimately ended up scrapping it and rebuilding an entirely new and simplified replacement. That system is finished, and I've also implemented a handful of graphics to start displaying all of the statistics possible from this new update. I'm roughly 60% finished with this - the goal will be to finalize a test version of the Deep Stats update in the coming month and start sending it out to specific users for testing.
Getting this feature implemented has also required an update of some of the original C1x functionalities, so I've been plugging away at those as well, including a couple of bugs that existed in the production version of C1x. These fixes will go live when the Deep Stats update goes out.
Other
This was also a month of traveling and spending time with friends. Michaela and I were in Florida for a week for our friend Meghan's wedding, took on a Star Trek simulator/escape room with friends (one of the cooler things I've done), prepped for and hosted a Friendsgiving, spent a weekend down in southern Utah for our friend Morgan's birthday, hosted my company president in town for a day, and did some tailgating before a Utes football game.
I still work on marketing C1x whenever I'm out on the course, occasionally with some success, and also renewed most of my disc golf sponsors for the 2026 season. Still had the regular inclusions of chess lessons and Substack writing, and also learned that my company office will be closing within the month (so I'd be permanently work from home). I'm trying to get better at the guitar with some more challenging riffs to practice, and I've been playing more chess in my free time. Same old hobbies.
I also wrote in the last update about trying to do less planning and be more actionable. This has proved challenging at times with a lack of immediate actions to take, at least in my professional life, but I'd say I'm doing a decent job at it nonetheless. I'm trying to focus less on filling a to-do list and more so on just building good habits and routines. I'm not always the most disciplined at sticking to this, but it's a step in the right direction, and is something I'd like to continue to grow moving forward. While I'm not planning out my entire days anymore, I am tracking the good and bad habits that I want to add/get rid of on a daily basis as a reminder of what I'm trying to do.
Oh!, and I also nearly finished Christmas shopping, something that always feels so challenging in the moment but is rewarding enough when I get to travel home with gifts for everyone. I pride myself on being a good gift-giver--we'll see how I do this year.
Onward,
Dylan
