January 2026 Update

The Month of January

C1x
The focus of the past month has been getting C1x Deep Stats out the door. This ended up being a bit more work than I anticipated, especially with all of the minor features I wanted to add in this update outside of Deep Stats. Highlights include sound effects, more customization options while scoring rounds, and additional support for the usage of C1x by touring professionals.
The update is complete, and at this point is about to go into Apple & Google for review. I could stop development entirely at this point, but C1x still doesn't quite have the user base that I want it to. My current thought process here is that there's one element C1x is missing which could help attract new users: a social feature.
The scope of this feature definitely resides a bit outside of my realm of expertise. In an effort to be more entrepreneurial, my goal will be to create a simple MVP, largely nonfunctional but with visuals complete enough to take out to the course and local disc golf shops to gauge interest. That will be the project for the coming month.
New Job
I started a new part-time job this month (on top of my day job) with a life sciences venture studio startup called SPARC Health. My title is "Project Manager", and my responsibilities are largely related to the day-to-day operations of the company. I'm still getting a feel for the role, but it's been a great combination so far of utilizing my current professional skillset while providing a unique challenge with lots to learn. It's been enjoyable so far and will start to get busier in the coming month, and I'm optimistic that it can grow or provide pathways for growth into new professional opportunities.
Habits
It's no secret that I disc golf, but over the past couple of years I've been playing with back tightness and knee pain fairly consistently, two issues that I probably should've have at my age. My goal this past month was to put together a plan to remediate that. To summarize the result, I now have a bit of a home gym and a full fitness plan with all kinds of mobility exercises and stretches to make disc golf painless again. I'm a few days in at the time of writing, and it's a bit silly how much of an impact it's had already. Probably more telling on how little I was doing before.
I did built this into more of a lifestyle plan focusing on more than just joint strength and mobility, so it also includes things like upping my meditation time each day, more disc golf training, and less general daily distractions. I'll report back in a month.
Other
I've started playing in a coed volleyball league in addition to my mens basketball league, and both have been a blast. I've continued my Substack writing, renewed agreements with the same disc golf sponsors I had last year, and even got a little better at rock climbing with a new gym PR (first legit V6-V8 boulder). I also did my first sauna and cold plunge - the plunge was far harder than I thought it would be.
Not too much else to report on this month. Things are starting to get busy, and I'm hoping the trend continues for months to come.
Onward,
Dylan
