June 2026 Update

The Month of June

Environment: On a plane flying back from disc golf mecca (Charlotte)

C1x

Things really kicked into gear this month, C1x included. With substantial help from Claude, I built out a new year-end wrapped feature, finished the Seasons update with refined systems for course management and handicaps, and implemented a number of bug fixes and scoring improvements. I also added an entirely new sharing feature which will let me use C1x to highlight tournament performances alongside individual rounds. Accompanied by a completely rebuilt tutorial system, I shoved all of this out the door in what I hope to be my.last C1x update for a while. This is now available on both iOS and Android.

C1x also got brand new store listings and screenshots on the App Store and Google Play Store to reflect all of the new capabilities, and the update included additional backend work that will help me quickly add to the in-app courses list in the future without requiring an official app update. All to say that I'm quite proud of this update, and I'm ready to take a break.

The last step is to market the update a bit to potential users to gather some feedback and see how well I actually did. I've shared this with a couple of my sponsorship teams and close friends -- jury's still out on this, but fingers crossed.

Project Management

This has also been a wildly eventful month in my professional life. In construction management, I kicked off a new project to add to the three I was already running, closed down our old office and packed it up, set up a new office after touring multiple co-working spaces, and hit my five year anniversary with the company.

As the project manager for SPARC, I wrapped up our spring cohort, completed the setup for our fall cohort, managed and presented at our second Startup Huddle of the year (I need more practice at public speaking), built out a portion of the new educational programming for future cohorts, and worked on the logistics for two new partnerships we are exploring with local and national organizations.

I also built and implemented an entirely new operations tracking system for the SPARC team, and did a little light reading to educate myself on the ins and outs of venture capital in anticipation of a future project TBA.

Above all, I learned that a full-time job and a part-time job, when combined, are a lot of work.

Disc Golf

I've been dealing with an annoying finger injury all month that prevents me from throwing power-grip shots at all without experiencing a moderate amount of pain. While dealing with this, I tried to play in the largest disc golf tournament in Utah. This was three rounds over three days, and it did not go well.

I did learn that I am still a decently capable disc golfer throwing only fan grips (reduces the pain significantly), and since the tournament have been able to play some decent rounds of disc golf without pain. This was especially important for our trip to Charlotte at the end of the month -- it would have been unbearable to travel to the disc golf mecca and not be able to play.

I currently have no more tournaments scheduled until August, which will hopefully give me time to resolve my finger injury and get back into form.

Other

I've still be training to pace a friend at her ultra-marathon, and mostly ran between 8 and 8.5 miles this month. This included my first ever trail run and training with a hydration vest, which I've learned feels significantly heavier to run with than it actually is. Not a lot of mileage gain this month, but I still think I'm in a good spot for the race in September. I did learn that my 16-mile section of the race is the hardest 16-mile stretch on the route... exciting. I've run twice a week up to this point, and I'm hoping that will be enough moving forward.

I've continued to play sand volleyball in a local league (our team won the league, and I will be proudly sporting my championship ring), sometimes twice per week, and I've been trying to add to my guitar repertoire in spite of my finger injury (which I think stemmed from overuse playing the guitar). I kept up my weekly writing on Substack, did a little rock climbing, attended a few networking events, and caught some World Cup highlights. I also dealt with some needed car maintenance, did a little cat sitting, and rediscovered naps.

Michaela and I took a trip to Charlotte to see if we might enjoy living there at some point. The disc golf was the best I've ever played, but I don't think we enjoyed much outside of that. TBD on what's next, but we've got a little time to figure it out.

Onward,

Dylan
