The Month of October
Switching up the format on these — going with a quick bullet list instead of full write-ups, just to make these easier to keep up with.
Environment: At my new office for the time being (the couch)
- Build a "sprint dashboard" for my website, with the idea of trying to start a new business each month and tracking what worked and what didn't
- Started my first sprint, an idea I had for disc golf trading cards. I built a website, designed cards, ordered samples, and created the necessary accounts/tax licenses/material to sell my first ever physical product. I spent quite a bit of time marketing and gathering feedback - no traction yet, but I'm learning a month wasn't quite enough time. This sprint will last a while longer as I determine where the company, "Feature Card", might go.
- Continued managing SPARC operations as the part-time Program Manager. This included a fully updated SOP document for the organization and interviews for an apprentice
- Kept up weekly running and strength training, with the exception of being under the weather for a week
- Rock climbing in Idaho + first time sleeping in a yurt
- Continued playing in weekly rec basketball and volleyball leagues
- Kept up my weekly Substack writing
- Enjoyed watching the first new Avatar TV show in the past ten years
- Continued disc golf training, and reached a new PDGA rating high
- Pitched the case for professional disc golf at a baby shower
- Got a promotion and a raise at my day job, then was told the next day that our office was closing. While the lack of professionalism on behalf of the company was disappointing, I will, for the first time in over five years, wake up tomorrow (Monday) and not have to think about construction
- Outings with friends, a concert, and too much fun at Halloween parties
- Revisited some bugs in Throw with the Pros, which I hadn't touched in at least a couple of years
- Applied to a couple of new disc golf sponsors
Onward,
Dylan
