The Month of September
Switching up the format on these — going with a quick bullet list instead of full write-ups, just to make these easier to keep up with.
Environment: Writing at my desk after putting this off for two weeks (same as last month)
- Attended a couple conferences for life science startups
- Paced my friend Morgan in her ultramarathon - I ran a 16-mile section in the middle of her 100-mile race, and I barely kept up with her
- Lots of reading on money management (about 500 hundred pages worth) as I mentally prepare for a potential self-employed reality
- Continued running operations for SPARC, including the Entrepreneurial Cohort, Startup Huddle Event, and finishing a programming bank for use with future cohorts. SPARC consumed a lot of time this month for a part-time job.
- Kept up with project management duties at my day job in construction
- A little indoor and outdoor rock climbing
- Kept up weekly Substack writing
- Finished out the season in my sand volleyball league
- Disc golf training including multiple rounds a week + some fieldwork
- Finished 3rd at the Creekside Open - I had a terrible first round but mounted quite the comeback. I was proud of this one as my goal before the tournament was to finish in the top 3, and after the first round I was barely in the cash. A hand injury wasn't enough to keep me out of it.
- Speaking of a hand injury, I finally set up a PT appointment to get it looked at. They basically told me to rest it and stop whining - guess I'll actually have to stop throwing for a little while. Unlikely.
- A long weekend trip in St. Louis for a good friend's wedding. Always fun to get back together with college friends, makes it feel like we never left.
Onward,
Dylan
